A Couple of Nice Mentions For SALT......

We are thrilled here at Salt to get mentions by both "The Artful Diner" as well as "The New York Times" in their year-end wrap ups of their restaurants they reviewed in '08. The Artful Diner gave us a nod as one of his favorites for the year 2008, saying......

"The kitchen reins have been completely taken over by Tony Mandeville, the former second in command at Bula, and the results are impressive.......if you are in the market for reasonably priced, first-rate, innovatively prepared casual cuisine served up in an equally casual, pub-like setting..you will be more than satisfied."

David Corcoran at "The New York Times" put us in their "roundup of this year's 10 best". Saying... "commitment to the creative and careful handling of high-quality ingredients"..."the menu is well designed and consistently executed"....

To be put into anyones end of the year top 10 or favorites is always an honor at any level, but by two respected reviewers is even more so.

So needless to say we are proud of our staff..starting with Tony in the kitchen and Jennifer on the floor.....and the entire front and back of the house staff! The entire Salt Family is proud, and should be!

Congratulations!! We just read your write-up in the NYT...very nice! My wife and I have dined at Salt a number of times and think your restaurant is one of the most under-rated places in North Jersey, and we have eaten at them all. We dine at your favorite "The Spotted Pig" frequently as well as many others throughout the city and put you guys up against all of them. Bravo to you and your staff. We will surely help spread the good word about you guys. Keep up the good work. We are lucky to have a place such as yours so close by! You did it again Mr. Boyle.

Brad,
We were in last night and were so happy to catch you "back in action in the kitchen." Our food was absolutely awesome. The chicken paprikash was a little bit of heaven. Thanks so much!

Reading the comments one would expect a tasty meal at a good pub. I guess we chose the wrong night to stop by. After ordering our meals we waited over a half hour to be told that the bangers and mash were a problem since they ran out of mash. Once the meals arrived they were apologetic and brought us a complimentary order of bangers with brussel sprouts to go along with the fish and chips. My wife being Irish born always has a soft spot for an authentic Irish cuisine and I appreciate a good Irish meal also. We were informaed that the regular chef was out on Mondays and the Owner was running the kitchen. All I can say is it would be better to be closed on Mondays. Both meals were soaked in greese and left 3/4 uneaten. I must say is was one of the greasiest, fat laden meals I have ever had and am definately discouraged in ever coming back.
